The increase in our debt caused by Obama’s policies dwarf the amount of debt caused by Bush’s policies. Sadly, many of Bush’s debtcausing policies are still around today. Many of the measures that are still accumulating debt under Obama’s Presidency were not measures he started. They were measures started by Bush, but have been carried over to Obama’s Presidency. Take for example the wars. They began under Bush, but are still accumulating debt under Obama’s Presidency. Essentially, Obama is accumulating debt from wars and measures he did not start. A better way to look at our debt is to see how much each specific policy has contributed to our debt and see which President enacted those policies. This graph does just that. The fairest way to determine how we got into this mess is to see which policies got us there. Most of the debt can be attributed to Bush’s policies, not Obama’s. The sad thing is that Obama’s policies were primarily done to prevent complete economic collapse, while Bush’s were done to benefit the rich and plunge our nation into an unnecessary, costly war. Also, deficits are necessary during a recession because people begin spending dramatically less. In order to counteract this, and other issues caused by recessions, the government has to make up the difference by spending money on stimulus packages and government bailouts (bailouts, may I remind you, that were caused because of the deregulation of businesses started under Reagan). These government measures don’t completely stop the country from plunging into a recession; but it’s sort of like an air bag in a car accident. Deficits during a recession are sometimes, if not always necessary. The real problem is when you create debt when there’s no recession, which is exactly what Dubya did. Now when we need deficits to combat the recession, it is impossible because of all the debt accumulated when we should have been continuing the surplus Clinton left us. Instead, however, Bush picked war, tax-cuts for the rich and a medicare program that was completely unfunded. Good one! It boils down to this: Obama’s debt causing policies are necessary to combat the recession, while Bush’s debt causing policies were done to plunge us into war and benefit the rich. Also, many of the things that are still accumulating debt under Obama’s Presidency (war) were enacted and started by Bush but are carrying over into Obama’s Presidency.

Conservative politicians manipulate poor, religious, right-wing folk by hating gays and abortion so they can achieve power and set the system up to make the biggest corporate profits possible. How so many have been brainwashed into voting against their own best interests bewilders me. The income disparity in this country is the most it has ever been, primarily because we’ve had 10 years of deregulation and tax cuts for our “job creators” — which, by the way, is a complete joke. Unemployment is high and most of our “job creators” have sent our jobs to China.
We currently have a system set up where those with wealth hold most of the power, and those who are poor hold very little power. The influence the rich has is the most it has ever been, and has long been the critique of capitalism run amuck. We have denied this criticism because it hasn’t always been the case, but the income inequality in this country has increased dramatically over the last 10 years. The top 1% now holds more wealth than the bottom 50%.
Americans have been indoctrinated (by corporations) to believe that anyone can succeed in America if they simply work hard enough. Corporations have actually convinced the victim to blame themselves for their struggles, rather than placing the blame where it should be — at the top of the economic pyramid.
Instead of allowing the government be a safety net for the average American,  “big government” has become a dirty word in our society. Big business has manipulated us into also believing the government is trying to take our money through taxes, and that the government is an inhibitor to economic growth. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Government should be there to protect the average American worker against the corruption and abuse of big business. Who do you think has the power to require reasonable wages and benefits? The government! Sadly, most of our government has been bought off by big business to help perpetuate the myth that government is the problem, rather than the solution.
Americans that vote against their own best interests seem to only care about issues such as banning abortion and denying equality to all Americans. Conservative politicians bought by corporations know this, so they will continue to fool you into voting for them so they can set the system up in a way that ultimately transfers the money out of our pockets, and into their bonus checks.
Any time our government acts in a way that could potentially benefit the American people, rather than the profits of a corporation, the word socialism is thrown around. Corporations actually convince the people who would benefit the most from these polices to destroy any chance of them being implemented. Calling Obama a “socialist” is exactly what they want you to say and is exactly what they programmed you to think.
Wake up America!

“On pure MDMA, subjects feel at peace with themselves and the world. They discover an enhanced sense of self-worth, self-forgiveness and complete self-acceptance. Cynical thoughts and negative feelings disappear. Aspects of life normally too sensitive to talk about can be explored freely. Heightened feeling allows long-forgotten and repressed emotional memories from childhood to be retrieved with unusual ease. In some settings, painful, highly-charged and even hitherto unmentionable problems may be discussed with (rose-tinted) candour. On MDMA, a lifetime of accumulated psychological barriers and defence-mechanisms go down, somehow magicked out of existence with a pill. Anger, irritability and ingrained fear dissolve; the hostile amygdala is subdued, if only for a few hours. Ecstasy users tell each other affectionately what beautiful people they are; and they do so from the depths of their hearts.” David Pearce
